'A Private War' Starring Jamie Dornan Secures Irish/UK Distribution Deal with Altitude
05 Nov 2018 : Nathan Griffin
British-based distribution company Alititude Film Distribution has acquired the Irish and UK distribution rights for Aviron Pictures’ A Private War’.

Directed by Matthew Heineman, the film chronicles the life of the American-born war correspondent Marie Colvin, who was killed while out on assignment in war-torn Syria for the Sunday Times.

Scheduled for released across Ireland and the UK in February 2019, ‘A Private War’ will first go on release in the US with Aviron Pictures hosting preview screening in New York & Los Angeles on Friday ahead of its nationwide release.

Irish actor Jamie Dornan stars along Rosamund Pike (Colvin), Stanley Tucci and Tom Hollander, while Director Heineman (‘Cartel Land’, ‘City of Ghost’) who is an Oscar nominated documentarian, will make his narrative feature directorial debut. The script was written by Arash Amel.

‘A Private War’, which recently premiered at the London Film Festival, tells the true story of Colvin, a fearless and rebellious spirit driven to the front lines of conflicts across the globe to give voice to the voiceless, while constantly testing the limits between bravery and bravado. Her mission to show the true cost of war leads her — along with renowned war photographer Paul Conroy (Dornan) — to embark on the most dangerous assignment of their lives in the besieged Syrian city of Homs.

The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Marissa McMahon, Matthew George, Heineman and Charlize Theron, while executive producers include David Dinerstein, Jason Resnick, William Sadleir, Erica Lee, Jonathan Fuhrman, Ashley Schlaifer, Marie Brenner, Jeffrey Sobrato, Joe Gelchion, Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones, Michael Reuter, Lee Broda, Jeff Rice and Nicole Alexandra Shipley.

Jamie Dornan can next be seen in ‘Robin Hood’ alongside Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx and Irish actress Eva Hewson.  Dornan is also currently filming ‘Death and Nightingales’ with new feature films ‘Borderland’, ‘Synchronic’ and ‘Troll World Tour’ still in pre-production.
