Virgin Media Television Issue Air Date for 'The Bailout'
21 Sep 2018 : Nathan Griffin
John Kelleher’s two-part political drama has been confirmed to air on one of Virgin Media Television’s channels next month.

Virgin Media Television confirmed on Thursday that ‘The Bailout’ will air on Virgin Media One at 10pm on Monday, September 24th.

Based around the events of the Irish government’s bailout following the financial crash in 2008, the show is set to debut on Virgin Media One to mark the 10th anniversary of the bank guarantee.

According to Virgin Media Television, "“The bank guarantee led to austerity, the arrival of the Troika, and the collapse of the Cowen government. In ‘House of Cards’ style, one of the leads — the ministerial advisor — talks to viewers at home, giving us an inside steer as we watch, like a fly on the wall of government buildings. The drama takes the audience on a whirlwind global tour from the corridors of power in Dublin and Brussels to the IMF, the ECB, the US Treasury Department and back.”

Written by Colin Murphy, which is based the play by Murphy for Fishamble, ‘The Bailout’ stars Declan Conlon (Brian Lenihan), Denis Conway (Brian Cowen), Norma Sheahan (Mary Hanifin), Enda Oates (Dermot Ahern), Malcolm Adams (Noel Dempsey), Peter Daly (John McGuinness), Stefan Gaudin (Jean-Claude Trichet), Darragh Kelly (Michael Noonan), Mark Lambert (Patrick Honohan), and Janet Moran (Mary Coughlan). The series was directed by John Comiskey & Conall Morrison.

‘The Bailout’ was produced by John Kelleher, executive produced by David Power and line produced by David Clarke. Music by Ian Wilson, editing by John O’Connor, casting by Louise Kiely, production design by Alan Farquharson, and sound by Carl Cullen & Dominic Lawrence.

‘The Bailout’ airs on Virgin Media One next Monday, September 24th at 10pm.
