Sarah Greene and Moe Dunford in Rosie.
Winner of Best director at the 2020 IFTA Film & Drama Awards, Paddy Breathnach’s powerful and thought-provoking drama, Rosie, will make its UK premiere on BBC Three this Sunday, June 27th.

In Rosie, Booker prize winning Irish novelist Roddy Doyle (The Commitments, Family) brings his signature brand of warmth and authenticity to a modern story of a Dublin family who have found themselves with nowhere left to go.

Directed by Paddy Breathnach (Viva, I Went Down), the critically acclaimed film tells the story of a mother trying to protect her family after their landlord sells their rented home and they become homeless. Finding a room, even for a night, is a tough job and finding somewhere permanent to live is even harder. Within the confines of their car, Rosie and John Paul strive to maintain a loving home while shielding their young family from the reality of the situation around them.

A deeply moving and gripping response to Ireland’s current housing crisis, ROSIE examines how even in times of crises, the love and strength of a family can endure.

Starring Sarah Greene (Normal People, Dublin Murders) in the title role, alongside Moe Dunford (Vikings, The Dig) as her partner John Paul, Rosie will be available on BBC Three from Sunday, June 27th.

Rosie is an Element Pictures production made with the support of Screen Ireland, Element Distribution, BAI and RTÉ. The film was produced by Emma Norton, Rory Gilmartin and Juliette Bonass. Executive producers were Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures and Dearbhla Regan for Screen Ireland.
