Amazon Prime’s Victorian crime drama ‘Ripper Street’ is currently filming its’ fourth season in South Dublin.
The new studio for the show was built at the Kilternan Hotel and Country Club, replacing the traditional production hub in Clancy Barracks where the past three seasons were based.
‘Ripper Street’, a co-production between Ireland’s Element Pictures and the UK’s Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point with funding from BBC, BBC Worldwide and the Irish Film Board, will shoot until early 2016 with no TX date announced for the new series.
Irish actor Killian Scott has been confirmed for the new season of the acclaimed show, though it is currently unclear what role he will play.
Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg, MyAnna Buring and Irish actress Charlene McKenna are all reprising their roles for the new season.
The show has so far had a rocky road after being cancelled by the BBC after two seasons, only to be picked up by Amazon for a third season which aired late last year. Two more seasons were subsequently ordered by the streaming site after the drama attracted larger viewing audiences than some of the biggest U.S. series on the service including ‘The Walking Dead’.
The first and second series of ‘Ripper Street’, which was all filmed in Ireland, employed over 5,000 Irish cast members, extras and crew. Extras Agency MovieExtras.ie are on board for season four and five of the show. Visual effects for the show will once again take place at Screen Scene VFX.
‘Ripper Street’ season four will premiere on Amazon Prime Instant Video, with the date yet to be announced.
