The School

WestSide Stage School is a Lucan based Performing Arts School, founded in 1998, nurturing children and young adults in the world of performing arts for over a decade. Stemming from ages 3 to mid-twenties, WestSide Stage School strives to encourage a high standard of professionalism, with a keen emphasis on technique, central to students training within the school. Training includes weekly classes of acting, dance and vocal training, with a broad overview of varying styles; from Irish theatre to improvisation and from jazz and commercial dancing to contemporary, frequently hosting guest teachers from leading UK Performing Arts Schools and other industry professionals. Westside Stage School also has an attached hip hop school and runs classes for musical theatre singing exams and speech and drama exams.
As well as weekly classes, WestSide Stage School also runs bi-annual weekend workshops where students are taught by working industry professionals, including British and Irish television and theatre actors as well as West-End performers, directors and choreographers. These workshops which include acting for camera, audition technique and various styles of choreography all strive to prepare students for future encounters within the Performing Arts industry.
WestSide Stage School also runs scholarship and exchange programmes to UK Performing Arts Colleges and has had many students go on to pursue further study in the arts, in Ireland, the UK and in the USA. Former WestSide Stage School students have subsequently gone on to work within the Performing Arts industry, working for the likes of Disney Cruises, Costa Cruises, EuroDisney, The British Shakespeare Company and most recently, the West-End (Character parts in both Grease The Musical & Mama Mia.

The Agency

The WestSide Agency, which has been running since 2003, prides itself in the professional standard of its students and chaperones, facilitating a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved. The agency has frequently liaised personally with casting directors helping to find the appropriate fit for any child/young adult part. The Westside Agency has seen its students enjoy a high success rate at castings both in English speaking and fluent Irish speaking parts. Varying from main character roles, featured characters, special extras and extras, Westside students have contributed to a broad, varied and highly successful repertoire of work.

Most recently Westside students have worked on RTE series Love/Hate, The Guard with Brendan Gleeson and Stella Days with Martin Sheen.

Recent advertisements include: Barnardos, The National Lottery, 3 Mobile, Aviva, Bank of Ireland, Domino’s Pizza.

Other feature films include King Arthur, Intermission, Ella Enchanted, Becoming Jane, Laws of Attraction, Veronica Gueruin, Lassie, Tara Road- but to name a few. Other tv series and specials include Omagh, Paddy Whackery and The Last Furlong. Childrens television shows and Den 2 productions include The Attic, The Big Little Music Show and Custards Last Stand. Westside students have also had featured roles in short films such as the award winning Fluent Dysphasia and The Sound of People.
