The first teaser trailer for Dave Tynan’s highly anticipated debut feature film ‘Dublin Oldschool’ has been released. Following on from the viral success of ‘Heartbreak’, which led to director Dave Tynan and writer Emmet Kirwan picking up an IFTA for ‘Best Short Film’ at the 2017 IFTA Film & Drama Awards.
The film which is being released in cinemas June 29th tells the story of Jason, a wannabe DJ, on a drug-fuelled trip through the streets of Dublin. Somewhere between the DJs, decks, and drug busts he stumbles across a familiar face from the past, his brother Daniel. An educated heroin addict, Daniel lives on the streets. The brothers haven’t seen or spoken to each other in years but over a lost weekend they reconnect and reminisce over raves, tunes and their troubled past. Two brothers living very different lives might have more in common than they think.
Director Dave Tynan spoke with IFTN following principle photography wrapping late last year saying:
"Shooting Dublin Oldschool was a brilliant few weeks. I think we’ve made an honest, exciting and cinematic adaptation of Emmet Kirwan's magical play. One part of the play I always adored was its sense of the city. Filming over the last few weeks felt like another affirmation of the city as we involved so many people and places. We had an extraordinary cast and an incredibly committed crew I was constantly humbled by."
The film, which is adapted from the successful stage play of the same name, is directed by Dave Tynan, and co-written by Emmet Kirwan & Tynan. The film boasts a great cast that includes Emmet Kirwan (‘Heartbreak’, ‘71’), Ian Lloyd Anderson (‘Love/Hate’, ‘GoT’), Seána Kerslake (‘A Date for Mad Mary’, ‘Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope’), Sarah Greene (‘Penny Dreadful’, ‘Black 47’), Ciaran Grace (‘Love/Hate’, ‘Black 47’), and Mark O’Halloran (‘Adam & Paul’, ‘History’s Future’).
The film will release nationwide on Friday, June 29th.
