11 Oct 2016 : Katie McNeice
The second edition of the Dublin Web Fest, Ireland’s first and only web series festival, has been announced and runs from November 18th-20th in Filmbase, Templebar.

Uniting digital media and tech worlds, the festival provides a platform for original web series and digital content, as TV and Film production professionals.

The programme of events brings together web series from all over the globe including USA, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Norway and Estonia plus workshops and panels with actors, directors and scriptwriters.

There are two new editions this year to the line-up of categories; Best Script and Best Project in Development. These join Drama/Mystery/Thriller, Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror, Comedy, LGBT series, Music Videos, Animation and Documentary.

Entries are judged by a panel of media and filmmaking experts including Edwina Forkin of Zanzibar Films, who recently produced award winning Irish feature ‘Sanctuary’ and BAFTA-nominated Director Jack Jewers of Trailermade Films.

The Opening Night of Dub West Fest kicks off on Friday, November 18th with a drinks reception and Actors Panel featuring Eddie Jackson (Game of Thrones), followed by screenings of web series including ‘The Hurler’.

‘Cirklon 3’ which is Aphex Twins first music video since 1999, will also screen. This video is directed by 12 year-old Irish Talent Ryan Wyer.

Sound Designers Niall Brady and Steve Fanagan will also present a case study based on their work in Lenny Abraham’s ‘Room’.

Dracula web series ‘Mina’s Diary’ will enjoy its premiere at the festival, which also features a dedicated screening of French web series, ‘French Touch.’
