NITV Ink Short Film Sales in New Markets
23 Sep 2010 :

Following on from its success earlier this year in closing a sale of 37 titles to Channel 4 in the U.K., Network Ireland Television (NITV) has announced the completion of a licensing deal for short film packages with Turner Broadcasting in South America and NBC Universal in Singapore.

Derry O’Brien, Managing Director of NITL commented on both deals, telling us that: “We are particularly pleased with these two deals because they are both sizeable clients in each continent and this does represent our first major sale of short films to each of these territories. We are optimistic that these recent deals which were both negotiated by our sales executive, Sadhbh Murphy, will open up these markets to more of our Irish and international shorts in the future.”

The Pan Asian deal with NBC Universal is for a total of 23 titles, five of which are Irish produced films. The Irish titles include Alice Productions’ ‘Rearview’; Shane McCabe’s ‘Lucky Escape’; Samson Films’ ‘Sunshower’; Declan Cassidy’s ‘Véronique’ and Zanita Film’s ‘Why the Irish Dance that Way’.

The South American deal, negotiated with Turner Broadcasting in Buenos Aires, is for 26 titles, 20 of which are Irish productions. NBC Latin America will network these films across several of the South American markets and the Irish titles involved include Calipo Pictures’ ‘Frankie’; Brown Bag Films’ ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’; Mad House Films’ ‘Danger High Voltage’; Venom Films’ ‘Farewell Packets of Ten’; Samson Films’ ‘Jericho’; Raw Nerve Productions’ ‘Guns, Bees and Tadpoles’ and Fish Films’ ‘Moore St. Masala’.

NITV is a general TV programme distributor that has specialised in short film distribution internationally for the past 16 years. It currently has a catalogue of over 850 short films from Irish and international producers, many of them multi-award winning titles.

For further information, or to obtain a copy of any of these short films, please contact Derry O’Brien or Sadhbh Murphy at info@network-irl-tv.com
