Ferdia Walsh-Peelo Joins Cast of Eoin Macken’s ‘Here Are The Young Men’
16 Aug 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (‘Vikings’, ‘Sing Street’) has become the latest star to join Eoin Macken’s upcoming feature film ‘Here Are The Young Men’.

This comes following the recent announcement that ‘Game of Thrones’ star Dean-Charles Chapman, Anya Taylor-Joy (‘The Witch’), and Finn Cole (‘Peaky Blinders’) have also joined the cast of the Irish actors’ new film.

‘Here Are The Young Men’ will be directed by Macken who also wrote the screenplay to the coming-of-age drama based on the work of Irish novelist Rob Doyle. The story follows a group of friends enjoying their final months of adolescence during the summer of 2003.

The film is being produced by Richard Bolger and Noah Haeussner of Union Entertainment Group, while Edwina Casey will co-produce.

Principle photography is scheduled to get underway later this month with Dublin based Egg Post Production confirmed to handle the edit.

Executive producers on the project include Conor Barry, Andrew Davies Gans, Michael Raimondi, and Paul W.S. Anderson. Conleth Hill and Lola Petticrew are also attached to the film.

Aside from work on his directorial feature debut, Macken also has major upcoming roles in the George R.R. Martin Netflix/SYFY series ‘Nightflyers’, as well as the new Netflix feature ‘Close’.

Macken’s previous directorial credits include ‘Dreaming of You’ (2009) and ‘Cold’ (2013) starring Tom Hopper & Jack Reynor.

‘Here Are The Young Men’ was awarded a production loan of €550,000 in funding from Screen Ireland in Quarter 2 of 2018.
