Irish filmmakers wishing to represent Ireland at the 12th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival have been called upon to submit their entries. Twelve shorts of 18mins or under in length are selected form around the world and distributed across five continents.
The deadline for entries is 31st July. Over the course of one week, cinema audiences in over 150 cities across the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia between the 20th and 27th of September 2009 are asked to vote for their favorite films, votes are consequently sent to the festival headquarters in New York where the winner is announced on Sunday 27th September.
The One World One Week One Festival is emblazoned within the rings that surround the Festivals Logo. Irish screenings will take place in Galway Town Hall Theatre
Last years winner of Best Narrative Short Film was Irish entry ‘New Boy’ a short film directed by Steph Green, based on a short story by acclaimed writer Roddy Doyle. Funded by The Irish Film Board and RTÉ, ‘New Boy’ told the story of an African Boys first day in school in Ireland and was subsequently nominated for an Oscar in 2009.
