RTÉ Unveils New Series Of Arts Docs
18 Dec 2007 :
A new series of Arts Lives is set to air on RTÉ One in 2008, beginning on January 8th. The series, consisting of seven newly commissioned films, kicks off with an intimate profile of the working life of one of comedic writer and director, Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd).

Subjects set to air in 2008 include singer and performer Noirín Ní Ríaín; author John Banville, who won the Man Booker Prize in 2005 for his novel ‘The Sea’; Dubliner Ronnie Drew; IFTA winning screenwriter and author Patrick McCabe, whose books include ‘The Butcher Boy’ and ‘Breakfast on Pluto’; pianist John O'Conor and poet Paul Muldoon.

"Arts Lives has always woven a rich tapestry, profiling the lives that enhance the arts in Ireland,” says Kevin Dawson, commissioning editor for Factual Programmes, RTÉ Television. “The programmes that make up RTÉ's Arts Lives in 2008 echo the strong traditions of the strand with seven more one-off films on seven unique artists."

The first three Arts Lives documentaries will air in January 2008, and continue in late March. ‘Arts Lives’ begins on RTE One with ‘Graham Linehan, Laughmaker’ on January 8th at 10.15 pm.
