‘Damage’, a television movie written and directed by award-winning Irish writer/director Aisling Walsh (Sinners, Fingersmith) will be aired on RTÉ One on Sunday 24th June, at 9.30 pm.
The drama features a formidable cast, including British actresses Olivia Williams (‘Rushmore’, ‘The Sixth Sense’) and Natalie Press (‘My Summer of Love’, ‘Red Road’) alongside Scottish actor David O’Hara (‘Tristan & Isolde’) and Irish actor Brendan Coyle (‘The Mapmaker’).
‘Damage’ is a powerful single drama, produced by Subotica Entertainment, that deals with the aftermath of a violent rape perpetrated at a 21st birthday party in affluent, Southside Dublin.
The Cahills, an affluent South Dublin family, appear to have the world at their feet. Aidan (Brendan Coyle) is a successful property tycoon, his wife Michelle (Olivia Williams), a successful estate agent and their fashion model daughter, Emma's 21st birthday party at the family home should be a night to remember.
That night however, a rape at the party shatters their seemingly perfect lives. With the key suspect released on bail, and dark family secrets coming to the fore, Emma's life begins to freefall. Slowly, having made radical changes to her life, Emma (Natalie Press) builds towards recovery - until a chance meeting with her rapist bolsters her conviction that she'll need to confront him in court before she can get on with her life.
‘Damage’ was selected for competition in the prestigious Monte Carlo Television Festival, which took place earlier this month.
The project is financed by RTE and Section 481.
