Tyrone Productions are to shoot a documentary on the television industry at this year’s series of MIP conferences in Cannes this weekend.
RTE have commissioned the independent production company to make ‘The Future of Television’, which will be aired on RTE in September.
The documentary will look at the evolving television industry and future trends in television distribution, production and platforms.
It will be produced and directed by Tom Johnson for Tyrone, while the crew includes cameraman Colm Whelan and Steve McDowd on sound. Miriam O’Callaghan will present the one-off.
Speaking to IFTN, Tyrone’s managing director Patricia Carroll said: “We’ll be doing some filming at the conference in Cannes. We’ve a crew going out on Thursday to film. They’ll be filming at MIPCube and MIPFormats, and at the market itself.”
MIPCube and MIP Formats get underway from today (March 30) in Cannes, France, while MIPTV begins on Sunday and will finish on Wednesday.
RTE and Tyrone are amongst a number of Irish companies who will have a presence at the event as part of Ireland On Screen, hosted by Enterprise Ireland.
